Both / And
Mixed media lenticular light box.
Both/And is a collaborative project between Ziru Mo and interdisciplinary artist Julie Bernadeth Crumb.
This collaboration is a lenticular image depicting two figures divided by a fence, alternately visible and invisible as the viewers move through the space. Alongside the image, handicrafts (red clay pottery and crochet fiber) and fruits indigenous to our homelands are displayed. This altar confronts the ways in which ethnic peoples, and “oriental” goods are exported, consumed, and stripped of their cultural significance. Our conversation centered our shared experience with immigration, queerness, exoticism, and labor.
